Da ich in meinem Illustrationsstil feststeckte, entschied ich mich in dem freien Illustrationskurs für das Thema Neugierde. In meinem Heimatdorf gipfelt die Neugier darin, dass man beim Spazierengehen in die Fenster anderer Leute späht. Es braucht nur den Bruchteil einer Sekunde, um einen Blick in das Leben eines anderen Menschen zu werfen. Diese Animation schlägt vor, hinter den Vorhang der vorstädtischen Oberflächlichkeit zu schauen, ohne zu urteilen. Wer hätte gedacht, dass das, was wir in der Ablenkung suchen, viel darüber aussagt, wer wir sind.
Feeling stuck with my illustration style, I chose to focus on curiosity in this free Illustration course. In my home village, curiosity culminates in the act of peaking into the windows of other people while going for a walk. Just a split second of glimpsing into another person's life. This animation proposes to look behind the curtains of suburban superficiality without judging. Who would have thought that what we seek in distraction says a lot about who we are.
Die Entwicklung hin zu einem freieren, lustigen Thema war der Beginn einer Odyssee auf der Suche nach abstrakteren Formen, Farben und Kompositionen. Meinen Gedanken freien Lauf und meinen Stift folgen zu lassen, half mir, mich von der Vorstellung zu lösen, wie eine gute Illustration auszusehen hat und das Scheitern als Chance zu akzeptieren.
The journey towards a more free, fun topic started an odyssey of searching for more abstract shapes, colours and compositions. Allowing my mind to wander and letting my pen follow helped me let go of the idea of what a good illustration should look like and accepting failure as a possibility.
